Hey there! I’m so excited to share this episode with you. This one is super special to me because it’s all about something we’ve worked on for years—The Journey Bracelet. We’ve created a real way to track your growth in dance. After 20 years of teaching, learning, and getting feedback, we’ve made a fun and meaningful bracelet with 12 beads. Each one stands for a big moment in your salsa journey. I even have mine on right now! I’ll walk you through each of the 12 steps and share what they meant to me.

  1. Success
     Your first win on the dance floor! When you dance a full song, on time, connected with your partner, you’ve earned it. We call this bead “Success” and even give you a crown pin for it!
  2. Courage
     It takes bravery to dance outside of class. When you dance at a party or social, that’s a big step. You’re no longer just practicing—you’re doing it for real!
  3. Dedication
     Buying your first pair of dance shoes means you’re serious. It’s a sign that you’re in this for real, and you’re ready to grow. That’s dedication.
  4. Humility
     This is a tough one. It’s about switching roles—leads should try following and follows should try leading. It’s about respecting the other side and understanding their world.
  5. Confidence
     This bead is about entering a competition. Just signing up shows confidence. You learn a lot about yourself when you put yourself out there in front of people.
  6. Passion
     Going to a big salsa event, like a Congress or Salsa Cruise, shows that you really love this. You’re willing to sacrifice time and money to grow and connect with other dancers.
  7. Leadership
     Calling a Rueda de Casino isn’t about shouting moves—it’s about guiding your group with care. True leaders connect with their team and help everyone have fun together.
  8. Presence
     Doing a stage performance teaches you how to be in the moment. It’s about showing up fully and sharing your energy with the crowd. I’ll never forget my first one!
  9. Victory
     Winning a competition is next-level. It takes preparation, courage, and mental strength. This bead stands for overcoming, not giving up, and becoming stronger every time.
  10. Excellence
     Dancing with two partners at once shows skill and smooth control. It’s not about being flashy—it’s about making others smile and having fun while staying in time.
  11. Versatility
     Salsa isn’t just one dance. There are many styles under the salsa umbrella. Being able to adapt to different styles, like Casino, On2, or Colombian, shows true versatility.

 The final step is about teaching others. It’s when you give back, help others grow, and share the love of salsa. Mastery is a lifelong journey.
