Welcome to Episode 201 of the Salsa Kings LIVE podcast
We have been featured as #1 in “Top 10 Salsa Podcasts” on FeedSpot.
Intro
I had a different plan for today’s show, but this is a special one. This is episode 201 of Salsa Kings Live, and I decided to bring back a topic from episode 23 with a brand-new twist. I call it “Do It Again, Part Two.” I got inspired while I was relaxing and writing down ideas, so I wanted to share them right away. And by the way, don’t forget we’re sailing on the Miami Salsa Cruise 2026—seven days, six nights, live salsa music, and amazing stops in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. If you’re part of the Salsa Kings family, your ticket is waived. Reach out to me or the cruise team to join us.
Now, let’s jump into today’s message.
Key Points
- Big Goals Come with Big Challenges
I’ve learned that the bigger the goal, the bigger the “bat” life can hit you with. Obstacles, doubts, and reasons to quit always show up. But it’s all about mindset. The key is to keep moving forward and not let challenges stop you before you even start. - The Power of Monotonous Practice
In dance, like in life, the simple, repeated actions matter most. For salsa, that means practicing the basic step, your timing, and your musicality. These things may feel boring, but they are the real game-changers. Just like in golf: you drive for show, but you putt for dough. The short game, the small repeated actions, bring the biggest results. - Return on Investment Isn’t Just Money
Every choice we make is an investment. We are all the product of our decisions. And the “return” is not only financial—it’s about health, happiness, rest, and peace of mind. Ask yourself, “What will this choice give me?” That question keeps you focused on what matters most. - The End Is Often the Beginning
When you reach a goal, it’s not really the end. It’s a new start. Maybe you learned to dance socially and now you’re invited to join a performance team. Or maybe your dancing led you to meet your life partner. Each goal opens a new chapter. So the end is just a beginning in disguise. - Kedric’s Story
I want to shout out Kedric from Philly, who joined us on the Miami Salsa Cruise. Because of that experience, he got invited to a local Casino team, and now he’s going to Cuba to dance with them. That’s exactly what “do it again” is about—taking one step leads to a brand-new journey. - Avoid the Trap of “Next, Next, Next”
It’s easy to chase level after level without stopping to ask, “Why am I doing this?” Don’t let what you do define who you are. Instead, let who you are shape what you do. Always keep the big picture in mind. - The Varsity Mindset
I like to compare this to sports. A JV player just follows directions without really understanding. A varsity player sees the bigger picture and plays with focus and purpose. In life, we want to carry that varsity mindset—clear, intentional, and true to who we are. - Celebrate Your Wins
After working hard and facing challenges, don’t just move on. Celebrate! That’s how your mind learns to attract more victories. There’s a difference between simply completing something and truly accomplishing it. Accomplishment means you finished your main goals, your side goals, and even the bonus goals. That full feeling only comes when you stop to recognize and enjoy your progress.
Closing Thoughts
So here’s my challenge for you: look at the small, daily things you’re doing over and over again. Are they helping you reach your big picture? Are you enjoying the process even when it feels boring? Remember, every ending can be a new beginning, and every step forward matters. Keep a varsity mindset, celebrate your wins, and never stop your feet.I’m Andres Fernandez, this was Salsa Kings Live, episode 201—Do It Again, Part Two. Signing out.
